TV Distribution

Perhaps the best way of distributing TV and radio programming to reach close to 100% of a population in any geographic area, irrespective of ground infrastructures, is through satellites.

Broadcasting companies can reach a large audience without having to worry about local infrastructures. A video signal is transmitted to our Teleport/uplink center and from the teleport video/audio signals are compressed using MPEG codec and transmitted to satellites as a digital video-broadcasting (DVB) signal. Horizon Teleports can broadcast DVB signals via satellite to an unlimited number of viewers in any coverage area.

TV Contribution

A contribution link permits broadcasters to transport video programming by satellite from a remote source such as a Satellite news gathering (SNG) unit to a broadcaster’s studio or from a studio to our Teleport / uplink Centre. With the advantage of its access to a number of satellites, Horizon Teleports can retransmit programs from any part of the region.

IP Trunking

IP transit can be used for direct end-to-end Internet backbone access in locations where terrestrial infrastructures are limited. The service can also be used as back-up to fibre optics lines.

Horizon Teleports offers a wide range of IP Transit services, all backed with the latest State-of-the-Art Technology. IP Transit service comprises up- and downlink from our Teleport, provision of satellite capacity and broadband Internet access using well-established satellite technologies like DVB-S2, SCPC and SCPC/SCPC. Bandwidth is available from 64 kbps up to 155 Mbps. Additionally secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunneling or TCP acceleration can be realized.

Applications for IP transit services are data, VoIP (Voice over IP), video, media and digital TV.

Our customers are Telcos, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Corporate customers, Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR), Governmental Organizations and TV Broadcasters in the covered areas.

GSM Backhauling

In remote locations where communications services are expensive to set up, GSM backhauling provides a cost effective way to provide GSM coverage up to 2km. Depending on settings, the GSM base station can support up to 12 phone calls at the same time. Setting up a GSM backhauling system in remote locations with SABRETM 1 is very simple and fast. Therefore, this application is also suitable for first responder use, disaster recovery and also humanitarian activity. Within minutes, a secure and wireless communication setup can be established in any place.
